Intervista a Lorenzo Mezzanotte

Interview with Lorenzo Mezzanotte

Good morning, Lorenzo. Can you share with us the story of Cantina Mezzanotte and how your journey in the world of wine began?

Lorenzo: Good morning! Our story dates back to 1925, when my family moved to Bettolelle to work as sharecroppers. My grandfather Giovanni dedicated himself passionately to the fields and vineyards, in an area naturally suited for viticulture. In the 1980s, my father Sandrino began cultivating the first plots of land we owned, and in 2004, I took over the reins of the company, steering it towards a focus almost entirely on grape and wine production.

What are the core values that guide your production?

Lorenzo: Our values are deeply rooted in a passion for the land and a profound respect for what it provides. We craft authentic wines that embody the essence of our native grape varieties and the unique character of our territory, blending tradition with innovation. Our philosophy is that wine is made in the vineyard, not in the cellar. For this reason, we adopt innovative agronomic practices that respect both the environment and the people who work the land.

How do you envision the future of Cantina Mezzanotte?

Lorenzo: We look to the future with the goal of continuing to enhance our historic grape varieties, such as Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, while also celebrating unique varieties like Incrocio Bruni 54. Expanding our presence both in Italy and internationally is a key focus, but always with a commitment to maintaining the high quality of our wines and promoting sustainable practices, especially in our vineyard management.

What are the most important aspects for you in managing the winery?

Lorenzo: Quality is our top priority. To ensure it, we rely on healthy precision farming, organic fertilization using biomass, and exclusively hand harvesting. We firmly believe that only meticulous work in the vineyard can result in wines that are clean, organic, and, above all, exceptional in taste.

Thank you, Lorenzo, for sharing your story and vision with us.

Lorenzo: Thank you! It is always a pleasure to share our passion for wine.
